Pastoral Candidate News

After much prayer, petition before God, interviewing, and more prayer, the AWC Local Board of Administration (LBA) would like to announce that we are officially calling Pastor Peter Maclauchlan to candidate to be the next pastor of Avon Wesleyan Church.

We received a tremendous list of applicants for our position, but after outstanding preliminary work by the Search Committee in narrowing down the candidates, the LBA has spent the past few weeks considering a more select group of pastors and their families. This involved direct interviews, in-depth conversations with those closest to them in ministry, and a careful consideration of each candidate’s unique attributes, and how those qualities would best align with our church mission statement. In the end, the LBA was unanimous in our decision to call on Pastor Peter. Praise God!

Peter and his family will conduct their candidacy on the weekend of May 9-10th. The entire congregation is encouraged to come enjoy a meal and fellowship with Pastor Peter, his wife Nicole, and hopefully their four daughters on the evening of May 9th with a “town hall”-format question and answer period following the meal. The next day, Peter will bring the message for both morning services, each of which will be followed by a congregational vote. Following the second service, the votes will be tallied, and the result will be announced to the congregation.

The LBA is grateful to the entire church body for their faithful and dedicated prayers and encouragement at every step of this process. We have felt your support throughout, and we are excited and humbled at the way in which God has directed our steps. The candidate weekend is an integral part of the process of selecting our next pastor, and we invite you to make your attendance a priority.

In Christ’s Love,
