I’m excited to announce that I will be offering an opportunity for your children to become part of a new ministry. The name of this ministry will be G.I.F.T.E.D Kids; - “Growing In Faith, Talent, Evangelism, and Discipleship”. G.I.F.T.E.D. Kids will be offered to those students (grades 3-6) exhibiting a desire to deepen their faith through a more intense discipleship program. This program is not about “traditional”/academic gifts, rather, we hope to see kids develop a genuine passion to share their faith with others through their talents and abilities, whatever form that may take. Students will need to fill out and submit an application to be reviewed and then together with you, participate in an interview process before being accepted into this program. During the discipling process, students will receive training on how to present the Gospel message to their peers. Then they’ll become part of an evangelistic team that will do group presentations locally. These presentations may include skits, puppets, music, magic, sports, art, cooking, building, or any other abilities God has given the group members to use for His glory. We will work with each student to encourage them in using and refining their skills. Accountability will be expected of all students participating in G.I.F.T.E.D. Kids. During the interview process, I will explain certain rules and conditions they will need to follow. Students need to understand that it is a privilege to be a part of this team. I want to emphasize this is a program designed for students with a desire to delve deeper into their faith. These children will be “ambassadors” representing Christ and AWC, so misbehavior will not be acceptable, and if it continues your child will be asked to leave the team. It is my intention to have this group meet on a weekly basis. We can determine a suitable time to meet which will accommodate the group of students accepted into the program. I’m looking at a meeting time after school or possibly a Saturday morning. Since students will invest much time and effort to be involved in G.I.F.T.E.D. Kids , we will allow our 5th and 6th grade students an extension to be part of this team for two to three years if they choose. After our first year of training and experience, students will help train new members and our older students will be instrumental in mentoring new members. Please see me for an application for your child or more information. In Christ, Pastor Dan Blowers |
